LETTERS FROM OUR ARTISTS"We used five different types of AMT microphones for a live TV presentation in Glance Bay, Nova Scotia last year. It had the most demanding technical requirement of any live show I had ever worked on: live to tape, spare staging, bad weather, sensitive classical instruments, a requirement for superb reproduction. Not to mention an inflexible director, and a tight budget. With the help of AMT, it was difficult, but successful. Without AMT it would have been impossible. Thanks Les"
Dear Les,This is just a short note to thank you for the guitar mic. As soon as I heard my guitar with the AMT installed in it, I heard the guitar - not the mic. It sounded the same as it sounds unamplified. In addition, being able to move freely while playing and concerning yourself with the music and the not the relationship of the guitar to the mic, is an advantage over any other mic that I would use. Also, it seems easy to move the mic from guitar to guitar, but I am planning to install the mic permanantly in my main 6 string guitar. I'm playing
a lot a acoustic guitar on the current Group record and to date, I've only used the AMTs.
Thanks for all of your help and support over the last year. I look forward to working with
you more in the future. "The best sounding clip on mic I've ever used. It accurately captures the natural sound of the saxophone, and with the tiny FM transmitter now mounted on the mic clip, is incredibly easy to use." Michael
Brecker Dear Les and Ron, I'm
very pleased to report to you that your Mic system is the best I've ever had for my
Accordion. The Accordion has always been difficult to Mic but this system has over come
the problems of noise and feedback. The sound is very clean. The Musicians I work
with are impressed with my new system as well. Frank Marocco For the most beautiful crystal clear sound I have ever experienced, I use the Roam 1 microphone system by Applied Microphone Technology. Joe Lovano Jazz Saxophone Artist I tested the mic this morning and it sounds GREAT!!! I a-b'd it against my 15-year-old ---------(it's been my favorite mic all these years) and it sounded virtually IDENTICAL!! Very true reproduction! Thanks again, Tom Scott - Saxophone Artist These are
amazing microphones. So clear...and the warmth is there. They're "This microphone really captures the sound of YOUR Bass, with warmth, clarity and purity. It also gives you enough gain to be heard in even the most challenging sound environments. This is a breakthrough for the Bass!" John Patitucci - Jazz Bassist and Recording Artist "This is the best sounding and most comfortable live microphone I have ever used. The combination of the microphone's sound and it's physical design are unmatched and unbeatable at any price. I highly recommend this microphone to anyone who plays in an amplified setting. Les, thanks for a great new tool in my techno treasure-chest." Ed Calle Saxophone Artist-Played with Gloria Estefan, Jon Secada and Julio Iglesia Ed now performs with Arturo Sandoval "Best Sax Mic I ever used. Gets the natural sound of my instrument." Dave Liebman - Jazz Saxophone Artist
"AMT has created a bell mic that sounds rich and full in any and
all registers of my tenor and alto saxes. I highly recommend this for the serious musician
who is looking to take their live sound to the next level. I love the way it
sounds..." "The P80000's inovative design works very well with my trumpet and has an excellent sound-to-noise ratio. It has a clear, accurate sound and responds well to a wide range of dynamics." Mark Isham - Trumpet Artist and Grammy Winning Composer
"Since I have been using the AMT mic, I have had a steady flow of compliments about my sound. The most satisfying is in the form of a question that all Bassists love to hear; 'Are you amplifying your Bass?'. Thanks to your mic, I can now hear the subtleties of the instrument instead of the amp system." Steve Varner - Bassist wtih Pat Martino; theDennis Deblasio Quartet; Jim Ridl trio; Jean-Michel Pilc; JD Walter/ Dave Liebman Quintet. Dear Les, I can only describe your cello microphone as superb! I have been using it for a year now, and it has been a delight for me and any sound engineer I have encountered. I just came back from a twenty-seven-concert-tour around Mexico, and despite the fact I encountered the most challenging of different sound settings, your mic always saved the performance. I own a fine cello made by Ann Cole, and it pours pure sonic honey, and your mic proyects it loud and clean. Thank you so much for that. The search is over! AMT rules acoustic. Sincerely, Jorge Mendoza "Finally a microphone that lets the clarinet sound like a clarinet." Eddie Daniels - Clarinet Virtuoso "A work of art... this mic reproduces the entire range of the saxophone flawlessly. Without question, the finest clip on saxophone microphone available." Steve Cole - Atlantic Recording Artist, Jazz Saxophonist
Dear Les, The Microphones at AMT are totally unsurpassed. I have been playing my drums
since I was old enough to walk. I've played in all kinds of venues and studies
of maximum standard for numerous years. Les and the rest of the AMT team have
my highest admiration for the attention they have paid to hand percussion and the problems
we percussionist's face capturing the true voice of our instruments. I truly
believe that AMT Microphones are the absolute best Microphones I have ever worked
with. I know longer have to struggle with the feeling of not truly be heard or
felt. At last I can paint a picture with my drums that can be constantly
felt. Thanks AMT! "Having spent years chasing the right mic, I thought I would just settle for the popular system that did the adequate job. Now that I have the AMT mic system there is nothing to settle for. It's the true reflection of my own voice. Armed with the AMT mic, there are really no limitations of what you can do. thanks AMT." Michael Cates - CMG Recording Artist & Saxophonist with Jennifer Lopez " I love the fact that I can dance and play without worrying about my mic. This unit sound's great and doesn't stop me from groovin." David Watson Chops Horns "Alicia Keys Tour 2002" "I've never had my horn sound so true on a wireless system before. The range is great, and for the first time, ever, I am free of trans miters and wires!"!!! Richie Cannata - Saxophonist and recording artist worked with Billy Joel and is currently touring with the Beach Boys "AMT mics are the best for real natural sound . No other mic has been easier to use to get a real sound at high reinforcement levels. I used the piano mic for the Broadway production of BAND IN BERLIN, at that moment I became a convert. I've been spreading the gospel of AMT ever since." David Schnirman ,Engineer / Sound designer/ Owner of Hear No Evil,LLC a sound design company specializing in Theatrical presentations, World music, New music, Jazz and Acoustic music. "Every sound engineer in the world should know about this microphone. It's sound quality, and the power it gives to the acoustic piano has help me enormously on the road. Even for the sound people who work the monitors and who are always trying so hard to get the piano right in the monitor mix, your microphone is a guaranteed anti-stress formula. I encourage everyone to check out this microphone and the system that goes with it." Omar Sosa - Jazz Pianist and Recording Artist "Out of all the
wireless microphones I have used, I really enjoy the natural Nathan Davis, Ph.D/Jazz Saxophonist/Composer/Professor of Music/Director, Jazz Studies @ University of Pittsburgh If you play the clarinet , you must have this microphone. It's balanced and lightweight and you sound louder, not "amplified". No more snake charming the mic on a stand. Frank Glover " The AMT roam 1 wireless system is absolutely the best mic that I have ever performed with because it really allows me to hear myself the way that I feel my true sound is produced, it displays all of the most necessary nuances that I desire, and it is equally good in live or studio settings." Bruce Williams, alto/soprano saxophonist....World Saxophone Quartet, Savant Records recording Artist. www.brucewilliamsjazz.com "This mic is the best.
The sound is 100% realistic. I am delighted!" -- Dear Les, I am overwhelmed! After so many years on the road and in the studios, in so many countries, with so many engineers, my search for freedom with uncompromised sound is finally over. The need for movement freedom always meant giving up some sound quality, until now, thanks to your Roam 1. I am So impressed with the sound quality . . . it surpasses many large diaphragm condenser studio mics. The hardware is also well-thought out, with attention to details that only a musician would had thought of. Impressive and mind boggling is the definition of this microphone, attained not by means of EQ but through correct phase, bringing out all the harmonics of my horns, throughout the full range of the instruments. The sound is so natural and balanced that is almost hard to believe. I also tried it in the studio for a quick tracking and again, you scored a 10 out of 10! When I use it with my in-ear monitors, it becomes hard not to loose contact with this world, while playing and being taken by the sound of music, as music should be! Hitting the stage with the confidence that my mic/wireless system will delivery the real sound of my horns, means another freedom beyond the movement: the creative freedom to express myself without worries! Thanks, many thanks! Peace, Franco Sattamini Recording Artist, Singer, Saxophonist, Composer, Songwriter, Arranger and Producer, worked with many Brazilian greats such as Tom Jobim, Fagner, Robertinho de Recife, Pepeu Gomes, and many others, produced and arranged the award-winning CD Chica de Cidra Sharp Awards, Brazil, 1997, and signed over 70 songs for the soundtracks of Globo TV Network 4th lagest TV Network in the world. Les, Shawn
"Thunder" Wallace The AMT radio microphone is fantastic! From what I have experienced, it is the best way of amplifying the natural sound of the violin with incredible results. Ulli Dinter/violinist,
composer, educator This mic is so easy to use. The clamp system, coupled with the gooseneck makes it so simple to find just the right spot on the bass to get the sound I want. Very minor shifts in position result in a great difference in tone quality, giving me a great deal of control from the stage. On top of that, the general consensus from sound people is that I'm making their lives easy (Ken Newman, in particular). What can I say, with this mic, I'm able to get the sound I want out of the bass, whether it's in a jazz club, a 5,000 seat theater, or a sports arena. And we all know that getting a true acoustic bass sound has been and remains notoriously difficult, perhaps less so, now. Thanks. Gregory Ryan - Bassist
with Curtis Stiegers Applied Microphone Technology allows my violin to sound like a violin and I don't have to worry about it picking up the other instruments on stage." Regina Carter - Jazz Violin Artist who played with Kenny Barron and Max Roach Sound is the single most important factor of my performance. When I'm playing, I need a microphone that can deliver my sound as close as possible to it's natural state with consistency. The AMT microphone offers me just that! Nicholas
Payton "The mike has a wonderful, warm quality to it. It really does sound like a piano, not a piano that is miked." Dan Haerle - Regents Professor of Music Jazz Studies Division College of Music University of North Texas "This mic has a
great, natural sound. If you don't believe me, plug it in and stand out in front of your
speaker or PA like I did. No feedback..no change in sound. What a great product!! "I have finally found a microphone that I can use on every live gig that I do. The sound quality of the AMT microphone surpasses every mic that I've tried to use. The AMT gets a much clearer and warmer tone and because of the gooseneck attachment system, I can get more gain out of it without having to worry about microphone placement. At last I can throw out my pickup!" Phil Palombi -Jazz
Bassist-played with Maynard Ferguson, Biiy Hart, Mark I just recorded some jazz quartet tunes using your alto/tenor microphone, going through a mackie board to DAT. I am STUNNED! The depth and transparency of sound is amazing. It's dark but with excellent clarity, and the multiphonics sound wonderful (thanks to the two mic's). Thank you so much for hooking me up with your company. It's a brilliant product! Best wishes, David Pope Assistant Professor
of Saxophone at James Madison University
Wayne Cobham Played
trumpet with Michael Jackson Les, I LOVE the Mic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It gives me the flexibilty I need for nuance and shading that no other microphone has given me. And... I still sound like myself!!!!! It's as if I am playing acoustically but with amplification and the ability to adjust to any venue's acoustics. Thanks!!! I think this mic is really the answer to clarinet players... having struggled with trying to use microphones in live concerts for some 30 years, I am really thrilled about this. Again, thank you for contacting me about it... there will be many moments of expression that will happen with precision because of the incremental control I have with this system, not to mention the second mic on the bell... leaves spontaneity where it should be in a performance... spontaneous!!! Having to suddenly adjust to a traditional microphone in a solo is not only a distraction for me, it leaves much to be desired in terms of accuracy. Harry Skoler - Jazz
Clarinet Artist Hello Les, The system Roam
1 is working great-Truly the most incredible wireless mic Ron Moton " I have tried for years to get the acoustic sound and intimacy that I hear and enjoy alone with my guitar into a performance situation. Until I found the AMT microphone (and its ingenious mounting device) I thought it was impossible. The first time I tried the mic. I thought I was actually hearing my guitar acoustically and the PA wasn't yet turned on. That is how natural it sounded. Thanks Les for helping me make music." Sid Jacobs As a bassist who enjoys
extensive use of the bow durring performance, I have "This is the closest
sound to a large diaphram mic, with the portability of a "I have used the Shure
WM98 system for about 20 years. It has been a fine John Laughter "The AMT mic makes my
saxes, clarinet and flute sound natural and full, with added volume. It picks up your true
sound on the instrument and enhances my performance." "These mics are the
answer to my prayers on my LA Endangered species Saxes....great dynamics, high quality,
rugged and compact!!" " The AMT microphone
has enabled my performance to reach levels never before possible using other systems. From
small venues to arenas the AMT microphone delivers my sound with unsurpassed
quality." "This wireless
microphone system is truly amazing. The sound is great. It really brings our the best
sound quality of my flute and piccolo. Even my group commented how wonderful the sound
was, and that they could hear me above the rhythm section. This system is essential for
any jazz flutist." "The AMT Violin Mic
actually captures the true sound and resonance of my finest violin! It is a wonderful
solution to the challenge of amplifying an acoustic violin without altering or destroying
the tone of the performer. Other methods such as playing direct with a pick-up or using a
volume pedal for gain, drastically alter the authentic sound of the violin. The AMT Violin
Mic is user friendly, compact, and powerful in gain. It is a must for the performer who
wants to sound like a string player yet have enough power to be heard!!" "The new bass mic
system by AMT is really wonderful. My bass has a very "Your never ending support in the pursuit of excellence is second to none. Your mic allows my sound to be reproduced and mixed for any setting. Thank You. "Joe Romano - Trumpet Artist with Chopshorns "Never
have I played on a clip-on mic with as clear and real of a sound than that of AMT
microphone. I have used it in the concerthalls, clubs, outdoor stages, in an indoor
stadium as well as in the studio recordings. I have only had great results with it and get
continuous compliments on the sound quality. In short, Les and Marty are complete artists
at what they do. Their product is far superior to anything else on the market starting
from workmanship and ending with the sleek looks." I have found
that Applied Microphone Technology has come up with some ingenious answers to the problems
involved with acoustic musical instrument amplification. Their saxophone mic is first rate
and designed to give the player maximum control over tonal projection. The clarinet mic is
absolutely astounding and is the first practical application of optimum placement and
blending of the various registers of the clarinet. Above all, I have found their service
to be the best in the industry. They are very responsive to player's problems and quick to
find remedies and new ideas. They are dedicated to helping musicians be heard correctly
which allows us to concentrate on playing the music to the best of our abilities. They are
clearly on the cutting edge of microphone technology for the musician. Mel
Martin - Woodwind Artist, Composer and Arranger-played with Frank Sinatra, Ella
Fitzgerald, Benny Carter, Mccoy Tyner, Santana If you're
looking for a mic that is true to your sound, then the AMT is the mic for you. The sound
reproduction is by far one of the best on the market today!" Patches -
Trumpet Artist, plays with Marcus Miller and has toured with "I am writing with gratitude for changing the way that I look at playing gigs which require miking a saxophone. I have always experimented with guitar pedals; multi effects signal processors and had finally given up on clip mikes. I've had them all; the little wires break the batteries always die. But even worse, at the top of the performance there are always dead spots in the sound and compression problems within the range of the sax. I finally decided it must be impossible to have a clip mike that can make the entire range of the horn sound good. When I first tried this one my opinion changed. This mike sounds EXACTLY like me, all the time, at any volume. On a practical level there's so much more you can do with your playing when you're not putting some of your energy and consciousness into shaping your sound to fit the PA or the room. Since I've begun playing this mike I've had nothing but astounding experiences
with its uses. The first time I plugged it in out of the house, I was gigging with the
Neville Family, a group consisting of Aaron Neville and his three sons. I got on stage for
a sound check and the personal soundman for the band (also Keith Richard's personal sound
man) was standing next to me. I won't type the words he said when he heard it but he and
the rest of the sound crew were more than impressed. This guy who carries around a small
case with probably $40-50,000 worth of some of the rarest ribbon and tube mikes in the
world. The AMT bass
microphone is a refined approach to amplifying the bass in a live situation. The
technology is sophisticated on the inside and user friendly on the outside. I put it on
and in seconds I have a accurate microphone sound that I can use by itself or combine with
my Realist Transducer pickup. What a pleasure to use the bow with this. I am now able to
get a recording studio sound live in any setting.Big room or small, it delivers. Thank you
AMT. Harvie
Swartz, Jazz Bassist "AMT has the COOLIST piano mic! It's small...it's designed to just sit there on the harp of the piano. You just put it in there, and PRESTO, true sounding piano! Minimal (less than any other mics I've used before) leakage, plenty of gain before feedback, and finely crafted. Made right in the USA and very reasonably-priced too! Check it out the next time you need to mic a piano, and get an accurate reproduction of the piano." Ken
Newman, Sound designer for Barry Manilow "In my 25 year quest to faithfully reproduce the actual sound of my acoustic bass, and the countless experiments I have performed to that end, the AMT Microphone is the best device I have ever used. The microphone gives me ample volume without feedback and does not amplify any other sound besides that of my instrument. The unique mounting system provides me freedom of movement and allows me to direct the microphone to the exact "sweet spot" on my instrument" Todd Coolman, Bassist with the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band "You have given a new lease on life. They sound great. the clarinet mic is unbelievable. It makes my playing effortless. Very natural ease of playing." Nick Brignola - Woodwind Artist "The AMT Microphone that I am using produces the best quality that I have ever heard coming out of my clarinet in a mike live set-up." Alvin Batiste - Clarinet Jazz Artist "The mic is the best I have ever used...Period!" Ray Vega - Trumpet Artist "I was leary at first. I have tried every clip-on mic there is and none of them ever got the sound of my trumpet the way it is naturally. The valve noise these mics picked up just didn't make it. Then I tried the AMT trumpet mic with the Iso-Ring. All I can say is "Killer Microphone!" Rich Szabo - Trumpet Artist "AMT Microphones, with their large frequency response, produce a high quality sound that is true to the natural harmonics of all saxophones. The doubling micing system provides ease of use. It is the perfect system for all saxophonists." Capitol Sax Quartet "The AMT Microphone that I have gives excellent electronic reproduction of the sound of my tuba. I will continue to use this microphone for my acoustical testing and recording that I employ development of new instruments and on-going testing of current instruments. Nate Griffith - Custom Tuba Maker "Big sound in a small package. We used a number of AMT's specialty microphones for Barbara Streisand's Millennium Show in Las Vegas and in her subsequent concerts in Australia. Firstly the service was first class. After hearing how well the piano microphone performed we ordered up mics for the harp, wireless upright bass, upright bass and the concertmaster's violin. Custom microphones weren't a problem; in fact they were built and sent off in a day or so. These tiny microphones were just the thing for tight spots... unobtrusive and sounded great. If you want great service...call AMT! Bruce Jackson - Sound Designer for Barbara Streisand and the 2000 Olympics "I use it for live sound, and especially for all the live recording that I do at Birdland and other venues. Everybody really notices it...and loves it. The sound is right there. The mobility of the gooseneck and clamps make it a breeze to deal with. And Ah... that little red light...lets you know that everything is going to be OK." David Ruffo - Sound Engineer Birdland NYC "Just wanted to thank you for the mike, it's great! I've used it on a bunch of gigs and it really sounds good. I am sure this is no surprise to you. I'm telling my friends and customers." K.O. Skinsnes - Bob Reeves Brass Mouthpieces "The sound is so pure and true to the oboe... its remarkable ... I haven't found any other mic that comes close." Nate Twigg - Oboeist with Boston Ballet "A quick note to tell you how pleased I am with the bassoon microphone system. For over 20 years I have been searching for a way to enhance the sound of the bassoon without losing it's inherent natural sound." Michael Rabinowitz - Jazz Bassoonist "The AMT Microphone is excellent. It delivers the clarity, nuance, and full range of expression I need in every register to get my sound across." Clifton Anderson - Trombonist with Sonny Rollins "The
AMT sax microphone is awesome-clear without being bright or tinny, warm "AMT's Microphone is the most natural sounding microphone I have ever used. After searching years for a mic that can evenly pick up the entire range of the bass clarinet, I finally can now stop worrying. It picks up every nuance of the instrument -- I even use it for recording, which is something almost unheard of in a live microphone." Michael Lowenstern - Bass Clarinet Soloist, Bass Clarinet Professor at Julliard "The new Applied Microphone Technology Bass microphone is absolutely superb. I have tried many types and styles and it is by far the best that I have encountered. For "live" application, I can play louder than ever before any feedback even enters the picture. I am also impressed how varied and flexible the placement possibilities are on my instrument. That is a real plus for me. "Thumbs up" in the recording studio as well. I couldn't be happier!! Bravo AMT!" Rufus Reid - Jazz Bassist and Recording Artist "The AMT TA3 microphone is by far the best sounding clip-on mic I've ever heard or played...It is a great mic for jazz!" Don Braden - Music Director/Bill Cosby Show "After using the Applied Microphone Technology microphone, that is designed for string bass, in Japan, Europe and the United States, I can assure any bassist that it doesn't get any better than this." Ron Carter - Jazz Bassist and Recording Artist "The Bass Clar mic has been a life saver in live situations. It is even and completely natural in the full range of the horn. The alto/tenor mic is even and flat with no key noise transfer. the best clip-on I've tried." Bob Sheppard - Woodwinds with Chick Corea "In my work with Bob James, Fourplay, and George Benson, the natural sound of the acoustic piano is the utmost importance. I use Applied Mic Techs piano mic to give me the natural piano sound at a level that no other mic affords. I have come to depend on it. Consistent great sound on a variety of instruments." Dave Kuhn - FOH Engineer for Bob James, George Benson-Fourplay "AMT is the best microphone I have heard for accurately reproducing the true sound of the acoustic bass in a live setting. It mounts easily, and allows me to move freely without compromising tone." Scott Colley - Bassist with Jim Hall and Pat Metheny "Beautiful and natural sound. Just what I've been waiting for." Bob James - Jazz Pianist and Recording Artist "The AMT clip-on mic has it all: Lightweight, easy to clip on, no key click noise and most importantly, a great sound. I live it and I've gotten nothing but great responses from all of the sound men that I work with. I recommend it to all my friends that own one of those other mics." Rick Rossi - Saxophonist with Brian Setzer "While I was doing a concert in New Orleans, I happened to see a microphone that I have never seen before. I asked the sound man what kind of microphone was being used on the piano. Being a bass player I'm always looking for a better miniature microphone. the sound man told me to contact the people at A.M.T. All that I can say is that I'm not using my... or my.... I am now using Applied Microphone Technology." Lonie Plaxico - String Bass with Cassandra Wilson "upon experiencing the incredible quality sound being reproduced by Applied Microphone Technology, from my djembe and other percussion instruments that I use, I highly recommend tomorrows' technology to the professional today." Victor Y. See Yuen - Percussionist with Sonny Rollins "Great sound. It's a killer!" Bob Cranshaw - Bassist with Sonny Rollins "AMT has done their homework when it comes to miking a baritone sax. It's very difficult to get a true baritone sound by miking only the bel. The dual-mike system is a tremendous improvement over all 'clip-on' mikes that I've used. The sound reproduction is so clear and clean that I'm truely hearing 'my sound' amplified. Their custom interface to the wireless system seems to make all the difference. Tech support is excellent. They know their business." Glenn Wilson - former saxophonist with Buddy Rich "Never have I heard better sound from an amplification system than when I use this microphone - tiny enough to clip onto the back of the harp with a tiny gooseneck receptor, powerful enough to fill a room from 50-500 people with no distortion. Audiences don't even know I am using it. It is the utmost compliment to say I look forward to bringing an amplification system on a job - harpists already travel with too many bulky pieces. The sound is purely that of the harpist, because the mic picks up only the vibrations from the musical instrument and doesn't amplify the physical instrument. It is a musicians dream-come-true!" Beth Robinson - New York Harpist "Applied Microphone has the best acoustic sound reproduction. I use the double microphone on clarinet and saxophone when I perform and record. These mics give me a balanced sound from top to bottom and produces a pure, full and natural sound. Thanks again for your support." Wendell Harrison - Jazz Woodwind Artist "Thank you AMT! This microphone/pickup captures the true sound of my nylon string better than any I've ever tried. I highly recommend it to any guitarist who wants to amplify the natural sound of his or her instrument." Paul Meyers - Solo Guitarist The AMT Roam 1 is by far the best sound I've ever heard for my saxes in live performance. The expanded range of movement provided by a wireless mic also gives me the room to play rather than negotiating my position in front of a mic stand for the first time. The sound has been consistent throughout the different styles and dynamics of my performances, and it's simple to use. I use the same mic on all saxophones. Ron Blake, recording artist/clinician. Saxophonist/flutist with: Christian McBride Band, Yerba Buena, Johnny Griffin Big-Soul Band. |
Jeff Jarvis - Jazz Trumpet Artist
"The AMT microphone system for trumpet gives you a very warm sound that's perfect for an intimate jazz setting or a large hall."
Eddie Allen - Jazz Recording Artist
"AMT's bass rig communicates the fullness of my intention more completely than any other microphone or pickup that I've ever used. The effect of it is totally transparent; it's like using nothing in an acoustically ideal space. The characteristics of the sound that I would like to bring to bear at any given time there. The communication of sound and feeling is the most complete I've ever experienced, and the way the others on stage respond, it's obvious that it's getting across. I feel as if I'm finally completely effective at whatever it is I'm trying to do in the moment. The first performance I did using the AMT rig was at the Caryle Hotel in NY with Barbara Cook singing and Wally Harper on piano. Miss Cook is capable of transcendent singing, and Wally is her ideal counterpart. The evening was nothing short of amazing. Every note was a joy of spiritual synergy. It was as if everything served the cause, and nothing got in the way; and still, after 10 perfromances, it is no less amazing."
Jon Burr - Jazz Bassist and Recording Artist
"We set up the microphone that you sent us and compared it to a PZM microphone from Crown. Your microphone performed considerably better. We were pleased with its performance and will recommend it when we are asked, as we occasionally are, to be used with our pianos. It was a pleasure testing a high quality product."
Samick Music Corp. - Rich Austin, National Piano Service
"Thank you for a great mic! I have been using it on tour with James Moody and Clark Terry group. Next month I am going to tour Europe with Charles Lloyd Quartet with John Abercrombie on guitar and Billy Higgins on drums."
Darek Oles - Jazz Bassist and Recording Artist
"I find the Applied Mic bass microphone the most satisfying bass amplification system I have ever used. I grew up listening to the Oscar Peterson Trio and the Stratford Shakespearean Festival, and the sound that Ray Brown got on that record totally inspired me to play the bass. The sound was everything to me. And finally your bass mic enables me to deliver a sound that I am proud of. Your mic delivers the real acoustic sound loud and clear to any house system or amplifier. It is great to hear the bas so lifelike and well balanced. And it allows you to play with a real acoustic bass technique and feel, as opposed to an over-amplified, electrified technique and feel. It's the best. Bravo!"
Jay Leonhart - Bassist with Bucky Pizzerelli
"From clubs to major outdoor venues the AMT sax mic is not only a dream for the artist but also for the sound engineers. It has the purest and most natural sound of any clip on mic on the market. My thanks to AMT for creating a masterpiece."
Joey Stann - Southside Johnny, formerly with Bruce Springstein and Bon Jovi
"I have been using an AMT Bass microphone for years now and it is phenomenal! Most of my work is with a bow and I wanted a mic that would reproduce my sound faithfully. With AMT, it is impossible to tell where your acoustic sound ends, and the amplified sound begins."
Max Kasper Principal Bass, Symphony Nova Scotia Bassist, Rhapsody Quintet
"I recently used the "mic" in my concert, Breaking The Rules. The "mic" is like having a fifth gear in your car, the power's there when you need it! With the mic, I'm relieved of the need to "push" in order to reach the back row of an auditorium. In breaking the Rules, I tie various styles of music together and having the mic enables me to completely focus on the music. Thank you Applied Microphone Technology!"
Bob Dawson - Concert Piano Artist
"I love the great natural sound of the AMT mic both my trumpet and flugel. The ability to adjust volume at your belt attachment is a tremendous advantage over other mics, and the way the mic connects to the instrument prevents altering the natural sound of the horn. I also like the fact that I don't have to remove the mic to use plunger or cup mutes, a simple twist locates the mic at the side of the bell. These folks have done their homework. The AMT mic is a very musical product."
Bob Montgomery - Trumpet Soloist
"Best Sax Mic I ever used. Gets the natural sound of my instrument."
Dave Liebman - Jazz Saxophone Artist
"If you love your sound on your instrument, then your instrument will love your sound on your mic. It's your natural sound, amplified. Mic me baby - AMT!"
Chico Freeman - Woodwind Recording Artist, Producer, Composer
"If you've gotten sick to death as I have of hearing your natural tone over the years, compressed, colored, or out of control from using any of the piezo pick-up or mic currently available on the market, you'll suddenly feel, be the first to note, from a duo to a full band, using the AMT Bass mic is like having a wet blanket removed from your instrument."
Bill McCrossen - Jazz Bassist - Bill Cosby's The Little Bill Show
"For the last 29 years I have been a touring sound engineer and have used the same mics and mic techniques - but when I tried the AMT on my Steinway, I was blown away - nothing comes close to your AMT for clarity and transparency. I have used the mic with Herbie Hancock, Diana Krall, Sonny Rollins, Michael Fienstein and all acts traveling through the John Harms Theatre. These mics are truly an addition any engineer would cherish."
Kevin Coleman, Head Audio Engineer - John Harms Center, Englewood, NJ
"My 'Iso-Ring' AMT's are the most natural sounding and clearest microphones I've ever used...It's sound is so true to life that I even plan on using them in the studio!"
Aaron Santee, Saxophone and EWI Player
"It's amazing how this little mic can get such a big sound in the most musically intense situations. It almost never picks up loud drummers. It's all bass."
Christian McBride, Jazz Bassist and Recording Artist
"I have been using the AMT M-40 on piano in a Big Band Jazz reinforcement situation for almost a year (75+ shows). I have found it to be remarkably transparent, natural sounding microphone that has provided excellent rejection of secondary ambient sound (i.e. drums and bass) while providing the necessary headroom to place the piano appropriately in the mix. I am most plased to continue my endorsement of this microphone. Additionally, I work extensively with Todd Coolman in the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band, who uses the S25-B on his bass and have found that microphone to provide similar characteristics; a clean, transparent, articulate reinforcement with ample headroom while also providing excellent rejection of the secondary source ambient sound (piano and drums) in the Big Band context."
Jerry Van Campen, Audio Engineer, Carnegie Hall Jazz Band, Mingus Big Band, Steve Turre and Sanctified Shells
"I can only tell you the truth as I know it and that is, AMT Microphone's will give you exactly what you give them! I need to hear my drums exactly the way they sound naturally. "Thank the Gods", for AMT. Clean, Clear and Precise, the only way I want to hear anything."
Perry A. Wilson, Drummer with Sonny Rollins
"The only difference between playing with the mic or without it was the volume. The sound of the saxophone stayed the same. The mic captured the whole and real sound of my playing."
Eli Degibri, Jazz Saxophonist - Played with Herbie Hancock
"I've always been on the lookout for a practical way to get more air and wood into my amplified bass sound, and AMT is it! I use it by itself, or in combination with a pickup. Now I have ALOT more control over what gets sent to a PA or remote Michael Formanek.
Michael Formanek, Jazz Bassist and Recording Artist
"For any flautist, this is the best system I have played on. It has clarity and enhances it's performance"

"The AMT saxophone mic reproduces the sound of the horn with more clarity, detail, and fullness than any other clip-on mic I've ever used or heard. It is really sensitive to articulations, accents, etc, rejects feedback, and sounds great at any volume. It's fun to play when you can hear your sound amplified with this kind of accuracy. Sound men love it too."

"Acoustic of, relating to, or being a musical instrument whose sound is not electronically modified.-Webster's Dictionary
If you play acoustic music, you know the importance of developing a unique voice, your own distinctive sound. You may also know the disappointment of not having your voice, your true sound reach your listeners.
If you want a microphone that will capture your true sound, not subject you to its own over-powering characteristics and one that will magnify not amplify your sound, then AMT has the microphones you need. If you want to mic acoustic music and still sound acoustic, Applied Microphone Technology Microphones are for you. Let AMT help you get the natural sound of your instrument."
Stephen Scott, Pianist with Sonny Rollins
"As a free lance bass player I find myself in a lot of different musical situations. It might be a Jazz gig, a recording session or Broadway show.
Regardless, I've found the AMT Bass Microphone to sound great in every circumstance.
In live performance there's no other mic that matches the sound and clarity of it. The bass is distinctly heard in it's acoustic sound not electronically via a transducer of some sort.
I've also found it useful in recording. While studios usually have an arrayof microphones some engineers aren't used to recording acoustic instruments.
With the AMT this is no problem. Just attach it to the bass, plug it into the board and instant great-sounding bass!"

Free lance bass player in Los Angeles - Johnny Mathis - CBS Television show

Thanx for your support, both moral and technical, during this last crazy year of the Millenium (2000). I must say, I thought that I gave you some pretty screwy curve balls; from Amphitheater to small club, You were all there, every step of the way.
You provided solutions for any setup I encountered. Your wireless/preamp setups for my many Saxophones provided a clear, transparent representation of my sound without any of the "high-end, filtered" effects I'm used to hearing with other companies. I found no feedback problems, even in Amphitheatre (Lionel Richie 2000) situations.
I can honestly tell you that your company is the ONLY one that has ever provided a REAL solution (HR1) for picking up, WITH ACCURACY, the sound of the Chromatic Harmonica in detail (Melodica as well).
These are the only Mics I use on stage and I have now been using them on All of my axes during the promotion of my new Album ( Dino Soldo-"strange & beautiful") ; that includes many guitars as well.
Thanx for your brilliance. Well done!!!

The AMT
microphone is a breakthrough for the amplified bassist! I play
alot of smaller venues, so Idon't get to use it through p.a. systems as much.it's the
first
microphone ,while blending it with my pickup, that I use more volume and less of the pick
up.
I feel like
I'm playing my bass! I think the hunt is over!
Thanks Les and Marty for getting my bass sound back!
Tony Marino - Bassist with Dave Liebman
I have had my new bass mic for a couple of weeks now and I wanted to follow up and thank you for getting it to me right after the NAMM show.
I am extremely pleased with the mic having have had the opportunity to try it in a variety of situations. I have tried most of the high-end bass pickups and mics on the market and I find your bass mic to be the best sounding solution available, even better than the expensive large diaphragm mic I've been using to date. The sound-guys love it, my band-mates love it and more importantly, I love it. I am now getting the clear natural sound that has always been my goal. Thanks again for this great microphone!
All the best-
Zac Matthews - Jazz Bassist
I had the good fortune to run into Les Silver, the AMT rep at the 2000 NAMM show where I was performing. He introduced me to the idea of his AMT piano microphone. Since receiving it about a year ago, I have nothing but great things to say about it. I've combined it with a Galaxy hot spot and get the most true reading
of the piano tone throughout it's range that I ever experienced. For example, I drop it into the 9' Yamaha at The Jazz Spot in Los Angeles and get a dimensionality that is otherworldly. The AMT allows me to finally hear the natural, undistorted sound of the instrument in my monitor so I can get on with my playing.
Jon Mayer
The piano mike has been a special blessing to me and my audiences..The sound is terrific and through my monitor I hear what the piano REALLY sounds like. It is definitely the state of the art microphone. I have tried many different mikes and this is by far the best one yet!! It is almost like listening to surround sound. It has made a major difference in my concerts. I highly recommend this wonderful product to anyone who plays the piano as a professional. Try it. You'll LOVE it!!!!!!!!
Rio Clemente
"I used the mike for Bernstein's Prelude, Fugue, and Riffs in the arrangement Lukas Foss did for me with symphony orchestra, and the balance was satisfying. Finally I can move to the bass section or duet with the percussion section in Bill Douglas' Feast with symphony orchsetra and not worry about being heard."
Richard Stoltzman
Why "strive for tone" and then have your amplification system destroy it? The S25B loves your tone and let's others love it too.

AMT mics are simply the best sounding clip-on mics available today. I have played all of them while on the road with Maynard Ferguson and have always loved the sound of the AMT. The thing that Marty and Les understand is that each instrument has a different sound and therefore needs a different design for each microphone (imagine that). Not only do I love the mic, sound men continue complement my sound, stating how easy it was to get my sound up. Lastly, I cannot say enough about Marty and Les on how they represent themselves and there mics, they really stand behind their product. This company is truly a class act. Thanks guys for making a great product and for caring about how it is supposed to sound!
